Everything on this site is built from the files below and nothing else.
Each is vendored into the repository rather than fetched at page load, so
the site cannot silently change underneath a reader, and each carries a
SHA-256 so drift from the published original is detectable.

On the translation
The World English Bible was chosen because it is in the public domain: the
whole text can be carried here, unchanged, with no key, rate limit or licence
between a reader and the words. Its own statement of that is quoted below.
This site makes no claim about how closely it follows the Hebrew or Greek.
It renders the divine name as Yahweh, where some other translations
print LORD. That is a choice of rendering, and the WEB translators
flag it themselves in a footnote at Jonah 1:1, which this site reproduces.
“The World English Bible is in the Public Domain. That means that it is
not copyrighted. However, ‘World English Bible’ is a Trademark of
eBible.org. … All we ask is that if you CHANGE the actual text of the World
English Bible in any way, you not call the result the World English Bible any
more.”
This site does not change the text, so it is entitled to use the name. The
full statement is vendored at data/source/WEB-copyright.htm.
Typefaces
The text is set in EB Garamond (Georg Duffner and Octavio
Pardo) and the apparatus in IBM Plex Mono (IBM and Bold
Monday), both under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. They are served from this
site rather than from a font CDN, so reading a page here does not announce
you to a third party, and the latin subsets are vendored at
public/fonts/ with their provenance beside them. The licence
the OFL asks to travel with them is served alongside:
EB Garamond,
IBM Plex Mono.
Licence status
Audited on 2026-10-19 against each publisher’s own current page, not
against what a dataset says about itself. The World English Bible is
public domain (eBible.org’s copyright page), on the one condition that
altered text not carry its name; this site’s text is checked word for
word against the source on every build. Natural Earth is public domain
(its terms of use: “No permission is needed”). OpenBible.info
licenses its geocoding under
CC BY 4.0, which
asks for credit, a link to the licence and a note of changes: all three
are in its entry above, and every map credits it. OpenBible notes that some of its data comes from
OpenStreetMap; neither vendored file mentions it, and no row drawn here is
marked as such. The two typefaces are SIL OFL 1.1, and their licence texts
are served with them.
